Milena Diaz
Program Specialist
Milena works as a Program Specialist for the WOCCU Global Programs team, supporting the management of multi-year, donor-funded international development projects that reach rural and remote areas across multiple countries.
Milena has previously worked with multiple local and international non-governmental organizations in support of diverse migrant and refugee populations. As the legal services coordinator for Human Rights First, Milena provided legal services to asylum seekers and their pro bono attorneys and supported the attorneys across all offices. Milena also worked for the Central American Resource Center in Washington, D.C. There, she provided educational outreach about relevant COVID-19 legislation, assisted community residents in accessing social services and developed strategies to reach hard-to-reach immigrant populations.
Milena holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies and religious studies from the University of South Florida. She also holds a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution, with a certificate in Refugee and Humanitarian Emergencies, from Georgetown University. She is fluent in Spanish.
