Malawi Credit Unions Donate to Women with Disabilities Impacted by COVID-19
2020-08-12The following post is provided by the Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (MUSCCO), a World Council direct member organization.
The Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (MUSCCO) and its affiliates made a donation this week to help women living with disabilities, a group that has been greatly impacted by the economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As cooperators, MUSCCO believes that savings and credit co-operatives (SACCOs) are for the people and we have a vital role to play in reaching out to those in need.
That's why the Malawi SACCO movement decided to step up and make a donation of food and hygiene products to Disabled Women In Africa (DWIA). a non-governmental organization with a strategic goal to increase the social, economic and political autonomy for women and girls with disabilities.
The donated items have a value of US$ 4,000 and were distributed 150 women with disabilities across the country.
