Credit Unions in the Philippines Look to Build on COVID-19 Struggles
2020-04-15Credit unions in each country face their own unique struggles with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but they are also overcoming those obstacles to help out their local communities—and financial cooperatives in the Philippines are a great example of that.
Despite a citywide lockdown in Manila and the closure of most businesses in some of the provinces, more than half of the nation’s credit unions remain open to serve their members—and more are reopening each week. With skeletal workforces inside, staffers wearing personal protective equipment greet members outside to give them cash withdrawals or provide other services.
