About World Council of Credit Unions

Trade Association.

On behalf of our member organizations in nearly 60 countries, we:

  • Advocate internationally to achieve a better legislative and regulatory outcome for credit unions and their members.
  • Provide education and global networking for the exchange of information and ideas.
  • Champion the credit union and cooperative financial institution model worldwide.
  • Grow and strengthen the credit union system with technical assistance, training and tools for management, outreach and networking.

Development Agency

Our development agency promotes financial inclusion worldwide. Since 1971, we have implemented nearly 300 technical assistance programs in 71 countries to build safe and sound financial cooperatives with affordable, pro-poor financial products and services.

With funding from a wide range of multi-lateral, government and private partners, we promote economic security, resilience and livelihoods strengthening through the sustainable development of local, well managed, savings-led financial institutions. Our programs empower millions of marginalized and traditionally unbanked people, regardless of challenges posed by the operating environment.
